CR 8254
Title:  CR 8254
Description:  Conrail's ELSY8 works its way through Collinwood Yard on the Chicago Line. This manifest ran from Elkhart IN to DeWitt Yard in Syracuse NY (spending its entire run on ex New York Central rails). You may note GP38-2 8254's star, which designated her for an ongoing cost comparison program. She was brand new, having arrived in September. The GP40 was delivered to New York Central in July of 1967. And 6089 arrived on the EL as 3624 in May of 1968. The other photog seen in the picture is my friend from NJ.

CR ENPI6b
Title:  CR ENPI6b
Description:  Conrail 23B drops down the lead to Rockville Bridge over Conrail ENPI6b, which has an EMD, a GE and an ALCO in the consist. The Enola to Pittsburgh train had a fairly short run to complete. At this point in time Conrail was three years old, but Penn Central's deferred maintenance was still evident in the physical plant of what had once been the pride of the Pennsylvania Railroad. PC 6239 was one of only six SD45s delivered new to Penn Central (the rest of the fleet came from PRR).
