AMTK 156 |
Description: |
The Pacific Railway Society Special to Bakersfield was kind enough to stop on its way to Colton, actually allowing me to catch up to it, where I found another foam-fest (of many good folk) waiting at the iconic railfan bridge to shoot the broken arrow lead train. |

Empty gons pushed in off the wye |
Description: |
Pacific Harbor Line's #21, a Motive Power Industries MP20B-3, shoves a string of gondolas into Pier A Yard, after having made a reverse move to get onto the wye. This unit is part of the railroad's new low-emission fleet designed to help reduce air pollution in the LA and Long Beach Harbors. |

Santa Fe signal bridge frames Metrolink |
Description: |
A Saturday Orange County Line train from Oceanside is pushed under the the old Santa Fe signal bridge at Pioneer Boulevard. I don't know how long the signal bridge will last, but it's a nice memory of old time rairoading while it's still here. F59PHI #887 was the very last example of this model that Metrolink bought. It arrived in November of 2001 and was actually asembled by Alstom. Metrolink's new MP36s should start arriving soon, taking away #887's new kid on the block status. |

CR 6010 takes NY74 south |
Description: |
Patched Penn Central SD35 and SD40 with the daily merchandise NY-74 -- a holdover from Erie Lackawanna days, this was a Chicago to New York run that is here less than 30 minutes away from the end of its long journey to Croxton Yard. SD35 6010 was a Pennsylvania Railroad unit (called an EF25a there) delivered in 1965. CR's SD35s didn't fair well and were mostly gone by 1985. |

EL 3380 |
Description: |
Conrail 1607 splits the signals at Milepost 19.2. In moments it will cross Kinderkamack and stop in Emerson @ the old Etna depot. The U34CH had a wonderful GE chug, which you could hear all the way to my house in Paramus on cold nights. 3380 was part of the second NJDOT/EL order for "Bluebirds" (third delivery) and was delivered in January of 1973, making her about four years old in this shot. |
