Switch Job on LAJ Connector |
Description: |
BNSF's fleet of rebuilt GP35us (and GP30us) are all in their mid to late 40s now. #2509 is on the garbarge strewn Citcom Spur in Commerce. There is often a set of Blue Bonnet GEEPS here. The track actually connects to a number of Los Angeles Junction lines, including their yard off of Bandini, but I have personally never seen it used for anything rather than locomotive storage. This was taken from 26th Street, and moment before I took it #2509 had roared to life. She was origianlly deliverd to the ATSF in March of 1964 as #1309. She was rebuilt February 1984, and wore Kodachrome SPSF paint in 1985. Shot on Fujichrome Provia 100F. |

BNSF 2838 leads YLACO711 |
Description: |
After a few decades as a main line to the Harbors of Long Beach and Los Angeles, the BNSF Harbor Sub has been reduced to a branch line, and embargoed in the middle. Here on the southern end, where stacks once roamed, we see a local climb Monaco Hill bringin tank cars to the Chevron facility in El Segundo. El Nido Park is in the foreground. Although #2316 shows up as a GP38-2, I show that she is a GP38. |
