Twelve Toasters at Vail
Title:  Twelve Toasters at Vail
Description:  Goat Boat #1051 is the trailing unit in a consist of nine Dash 9-44CWs and three ES44DCs taking an eastbound past the historic location of Vail. With all that power, this train managed to get from a slow rolling start to track speed with incredible swiftness.

Drag Racing stackers
Title:  Drag Racing stackers
Description:  These two westbound stackers are racing at track speed in this image. Really wish I'd had a video camera at this moment. The location is West Colton on the BNSF San Bernardino Sub (as opposed to the more famous West Colton on the UP Alhambra Sub), and the two trains are both about to cross over Fogg Street. The GEVO is moving ever so slightly faster, but not enough that I'll ever find out what is behind that Oakway SD60. Meanwhile, the Warbonnet Dash 9, Goatboat and two H2s are leading a train that I had just seen pass through A Yard and the platforms of the San Bernardino Harvey House Depot. Dash 9 #668 was delivered to the Santa Fe in September of 1994, while "Power Bar" ES44DC #7584 was delivered to the BNSF in June 2007.

Eastbound Z
Title:  Eastbound Z
Description:  JB Hunt stacks are going west, United Parcel trailers are going east, and in the far background, baretables are waiting to be switched into the yard. The stacks on the right are waiting for clearance to Hobart, while the "Citcom Job" on the far left is about to block us on the platform. The Z train is creeping through, but picked up speed as it passed us. BNSF #7678 came onto the property February of 2005.

Ethanol Train at Watson
Title:  Ethanol Train at Watson
Description:  Not sure if this was a Watson Shuttle (most likely) or the ethanol train crew themselves, but they are putting a set of new ethanol cars into the Kinder Morgan facility in Watson Yard.

D-LACBAR3-06M
Title:  D-LACBAR3-06M
Description:  There are thirty locomotives in this image... two GEVOs on the front and two GEVOs on the back sandwich 26 DIT and I believe LUGO Dash 8s, which are being moved from the soon to be reactivated Citcom Yard in Commerce CA to Barstow, where they can be kept safe in the desert. I'm pretty confident that this is the last I will ever see of them.

D-LACBAR3-06M
Title:  D-LACBAR3-06M
Description:  The D-LACBAR3-06M creeps along at about 5 or 10 MPH on the North Vail Lead. The train is made up of four ES44DCs (two on the front and two on the back) and 26 DIT (dead in transit) Dash 8-40CWs. Having already come to the realization that I am aging with the retirment of Class One Dash 7s, now seeing a railroad completely rid itself of Dash 8s is all the worse. The units are going to be stored in Barstow for now, but are unlikely to ever turn another wheel for the BNSF.
