Delaware & Hudson 417, the South Bronx Express a Fresh Pond to Oak Point manifest rumbles through about 15 minutes after the sun vanished behind the Harmon shops. Three SD40-2s with specially modified pilots for the third rail and 44 MTYs make up tonight's train. They would get stabbed just a few miles further north at Peekskill. Thanks to alert of NH from the Hudson River Rail Lines YahooGroups for letting me know this train was on the way, or I'd have seen it through the windows of my commuter train back. |
