ATSF 3751 4-8-4 Northern
Title:  ATSF 3751 4-8-4 Northern
Description:  Headed to Railfair'99 in Sacramento, the grand old Baldwin puts on the best steam show I'd ever seen, ripping through town at high speed. The train was officially BNSF OLACSAE13 RailFair'99 Special. #3751 was the ATSF's first ever 4-8-4 Northern (thus, the 3751 Class engine on Santa Fe), having been delivered by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May 1927.

ATSF 3751
Title:  ATSF 3751
Description:  Following display at the rededication of the ATSF's San Bernardino depot, Class Northern #3751 races west on track that was once the Southern Pacific Baldwin Park Branch. This is Metrolink's San Gabriel Subdivision, a Frankenstein creation of Pacific Electric, Soutern Pacific, and Santa Fe trackage. But the big Northern couldn't care less, and the folks trackside were delighted to see her. While the image doesn't show it, the platforms were packed with locals waiting on 3751. This engine had sat in a park in San Bernardino from 1953 to 1986, but was amazingly brought back to life in 1991. This run was in celebration of the rebuilding of the San Bernardino depot which had sat desolate for decades too.

ATSF 3751 heads to National Train Day display
Title:  ATSF 3751 heads to National Train Day display
Description:  The big Northern barely got to move her wheels on this day, as her entire run was from Redondo Junction to LAUS, maybe a total of four miles. Still, she put on quite a smoke display. Thanks to the crew for giving the few of us out there a great show.
