Western Pacific Heritage Unit  Contributor's Pick!
Pushing on the rear of ILADU-18 through Loma Linda, after having just waited on two westbounds, we see Union Pacific SD70ACe #1983, the Western Pacific Heritage Unit. This unit was debuted in Omaha, NE on July 30, 2005 to honor the employees of the former railroad, which had been merged into the Union Pacific. On this day, the unit was being chased by many local SoCal railfans, as it started that morning at East Yard, then headed out the Los Angeles Sub to Riverside, where it entered the BNSF San Bernardino Sub, to the Cajon Sub, where it switched over the Union Pacific's Yuma Sub at Colton Crossing. It is on its way to Dupo Yard near East St. Louis, IL.
