LA Times Job begins its day
Title:  LA Times Job begins its day
Description:  Getting ready for work at J-Yard, a hogger carries his supplies up to his hog, in this case, a former Missouri Pacific GP83-2 coupled to a "Crud" (a former SP SW1500) at J-Yard near downtown Los Angeles. GP38-2 #622 was originally delivered to the MoPac as their #2122 Jan 1975. #Y1199 is older, having been originally delivered to the eSPee as their #2657 May 1972. Nice to see the old units still running. This train will be YJY78R, the Los Angeles Times Job. It will shove to East Redondo, and then move ove to the LA Times lead, which is some might poor looking track.

Sep 1977 "North Hollywood Sabatoge" vicitm in the Bone Yard
Title:  Sep 1977 "North Hollywood Sabatoge" vicitm in the Bone Yard
Description:  The Bull Ring's sad lines of locos sit ready for the torch. While most are Alcos, early U-Boats and a DD35, there is also a wrecked Crud, #2463, the victim of foul play by two teenage boys a year earlier, who had sabatoged the unit, purposely derailing it and two cars on the Burbank Branch on September 19, 1977. Four trainmen were injured in the incident, two seriously. The SW1500 did not run again. In fact, as far as I know, no engine in this image ever did run again after I took this shot.
