LACTMA 301 on Garvanza Viaduct |
Description: |
Where The Super Chief and El Capitan once rolled, now Los Angeles Metro Rail Gold Line trains glide by. The Garvanza Viaduct sits at the western end of the former Santa Fe's Second District and carries the tracks over the Arroyo Seco and the Pasadena Freeway (fka the Arroyo Seco Parkway). Unfortunately, as you can see, the city has determined that the bridge should be hemmed in by trees, making it extremely difficult to photograph any trains on it anymroe. |

Gold Line train in the Bull Ring |
Description: |
An East LA bound set of Breda P2550s passes through the historic Southern Pacific Bull Ring (now a park). Thirty two years ago, I shot stored ALCOs and GEs in this very spot (there was a footbridge that passed between where the train is and where I am standing to take the shot - all of the grass and flowers were tracks). In the background is the Broadway Bridge. |
